Last week, I watched a film naming ''million dollar baby''. It was such a good film that I could not help myself watching it till the end of it even thought I had a class. The theme was so interesting. The film was about a boxer woman whose age is 31 and who never educated about box but wanting a professional boxer. She goes everyday to the sport center and practices box without knowing any strategy for example she does not know how to kick or how to punch. Everybody make fun of her but she does not quit. Instructor wants her to leave sport hall and never come again. But she refuses this saying that it was only that thing making her happy and then the instructor does not insists about that. There is an officer also who is an old boxer and who quites box after an accident causing lose of his one eye. He lives in sport hall and the instructor was  his instructor  too who charge himself  with that lose and who does not justify himself after that accident contrary to old boxer's sayings that it was his choice to participate the final box match. One day, the officer sees the woman and tries to help him. Then, the other day he says the instructor that the woman worth to be trained but the instructor rejects that suggestion. But after a while, he accepts the proposal and starts to train the woman. After that, woman's life starts to change. After very strict working, she becomes one of the best fighters all around the world. She becomes best at lower classes and then she wants the instructure to carry her to championship matches. He does not accept that but she insists about that and in the end, he accepts. Then Maggie ( boxer woman) shows up at championships matches. She is perfect in those matches also. But at the last match, a woman boxer naming blue bear  punches her when she goes to the her corner causing a break on Maggie's neck. After that, she becomes paralysis and she can not breathe without aspiration system that insert throught her neck. 

That is a terrible circumstance for Maggie because as she says in this video, she tastes everything because of her fame. She hears everybody saying her name for example, as she says. She wants the instructor to kill her but he refuses it saying he  can not do that. This scene is about that request. After the instructor refuses that premise, she tries to kill herself biting her tangue so that she can die because of extreme blood loss. Recognizing this, the nurses make her anestehized so make her numb everyday. The instructor could not stand that situation  and inject her doping that one's hearth could not bear and she dies in her sleep... That is the summarize of the film and I strongly advise you all to watch that nobel prized film.

        Think about someone whose  last hope is themselves. They earn so little many, they live somewhere we say ''suburb'' and they love laught as well as fight. We have this community in Turkey also, they are gypsies. No matter what the other people say, I love this community so much. The film naming ''Time of Gypsies'' is about that folk and talks about a family and especially a member of that family whose name is Perhan. The film shot in 1998 and the language of film is Serbia. It is the first film shot in gypsies language. The whole speaches is in gypsies language in this film.

 The topic of film so interesting and fantastic I think. Perhan and his little sister live with their grandmother and their uncle. Their grandmother have some extraterrestrial powers and she uses these powers for healing patients. She heals people for free and for this reason, she gets so much respect  from other people. Perhan also has extraterrestrial power but his power is making things move by brain power. The family has 2 other members one of them is Perhan's little sister who has troubles with her legs and the other one is his uncle who is a gambler that always losts. The film is mainly about Perhan's entering of a criminal gang, his love with Azra who is his love from his chilhood and his searching for his little sister who he thinks get medical treatment  but exactly working for the same gang.

   This video is fragment of the film. It summarizes the film. It starts with a sentence saying ''When God came down to the earth, he could not deal with the Gypsies...'' Can you imagine a stronger word that summarize all the showings of the film? If you watch that film you will have the same opinion with me I think. In this film, the grandmother sells the children to the boss of gang. You may say how can she does such a thing, but it is for he hailment of Perhan's little sister because her power is not enaught to hail her. Then Perhan suppose that she is cared, and he starts to work for gang. Because he does not have another change to live. Than, he becomes the leader of gang and somehow learns that his little sister is not cared but working for gang. Also, the boss of gang does not keep his words . In addition to those, his love, Azra is pregnant but he does not believe that the child is his own. He marries with Azra but he insults her, and he understood his  mistake when Azra dies. He then, manages to find the boss of gang and kills him in his wedding. But that is not the end. Boss's wife is killing him. And at the end of the film, the grandmother says '' If you lost the faith in people, you lost everything. Whatever happens, you have to have faith in people'' The film has so impressed me. That is the story of losing and earning in return for believing in people. Choice is yours.

                                               BELİEF IN YOURSELF

    Albert Einstein is considered the most clever man ever lived and I want to start my writing with one of his sayings '' If you measure the talent of a fish with climbing a tree you can persuade it that it is a fool throught it's life'' And that is the think that everyone should be aware of and practice it in their lifes. When I saw that saying for the first time I had thought that was the think I believe in my education life from the beginning and it is  the key of my succes in university and in high school. What others thought  was if you are succesful in math, then you are clever if not you are hopeless. I am one of those hopeless ones but they were schoked when I passed the university exam and enrolled the METU. I was succesful in language and practiced it so succes came up. That is possible for everyone to be succesfull if they are aware of their talents firstly. Secondly, there should be something done for improve those talents and this starts with believing oneself. People should say that they can do and reflect that belief throught their appearances, their works even their posture and the way they walk. Because if you do not believe yourself you can never expect the others believe you and if you do not get the atmosphere of success you can never be succesful. In other words, you have to believe yourself from the beginning of the ladder.

 In this video there are people who practice many extreme things that ordinary people even afraid of thinnking about. They are various people from biker, gymnast, divers, laymen to a baby. They all believe that they can succes those thinks. You see that there are a girl who is making bungee jumping from the top of a mountain. If she had thought that she could lose her life or if she afraided of something bad that might be happen she could never jump and she could never experience the taste of success. Everything is depends on the belief in yourself and making your decision according to that belief. Then at the end of the video, you see a baby who is come down from a ladder and he choose making it instead of seeking for help. Once he decides and then he does what he wants by putting aside his fears and he succes to make it. I think we are all same in case of putting aside our fears but we have different fields to do that and when the time comes to do those thinks we should be aware of ourselves. Those I talk about is some advises or examples, I hope we all can do these things as easily as we read this passage.

        Most of us may remember the previous year which we had to make a selection about staying with our fimilies or living in somewhere else such as a dormitory or a separate house with someone else. I and a large number of my friends chose the latter one. They each have their nagative  and pozitive sides and because of this, making a decision is so important. One have to bear the consequences of his decisions. Firstly, living with family has many advantages such as eating good meals, larger personal  area  like a room for personal interests or a room for staying alone and it also good for economical relief. Every student have to take care of himself and that starts with a good eating habit which strongly desired to be cheap. And that is not  easy to supply becuse good restaurants  that can be named as somewhere suitable for eating healty meals are generally expensive. In that case, houses are heavens of healty and cheap meals. Living in house also good for larger personal area that one can improve himself comfortably. And lastly, economical relief is so important a fact about living with family that most of students shape their decisions according to this subject. Staying with family really decreases the costs of a student in every aspect of life. For example: a large amount of a student's income is spent for eating, expenses of his house or payment of dormitory and such things that basis requarements for surrending life. But living with family can supply that to the students for free. But that things brings some disadvantages with them  most important one of which is getting permissions for doing something and that one is the key point of making decision I think. Because making decisions by ourselves is living our life by ourselves which means the basis instinc of human nature: freedom. 

         

   
         This video taken from a tv serial named '' Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar'' and as you can see it reflects both the hardships of living away from family and it's pleasure . It consists of several difficulties such as living someone else in the same house, arranging the time according to one's social needs and for studying and, on the other hand, the specific taste of taking care of oneself. In the video, at the beginning, they try to meet each other they try to find out the rules that should be set so they make a plan  of your life maybe for the firs time. Either it is well structured or not it is so important for a person to do that I think. They begin to accustomed to each other in time and they live in a harmony. Later, they lost their ways not knowing to arrange their time suitable for their education life and social life. So do most of the students same thing in the first year but later they begin to figure out the ways to make a balanced life. Hopefully we, the students of first year, can make this also. But the general atmosphere is happiness  I think because they aware of their sides that have to be strengthed and they make it with effort and making the decision of living in the country they studied instead of goinf home  reflects the pozitive energy of studying in other country despite all the hardships.

      How many of you were somewhere near the Devrim Stadium on 28. day of april? If some of you were there, you could easily hear the happy laughes of children. They were playing games, singing songs, flying kites and whatever you can think about children. This was an AGT's custom. Every year they are making this organization and both volunteers and children are happy with it. Now, I want to tell you what we have done that day. Let's have a journey with me.

     First of all, we (volunteers) went to the stadium and prepared there for facilities. We had so many tables and each of them had their tasks such as science table where children can make experiments, grassman table where children make grassmans, baloon table, bracelet table, memory table where they write their experiences about that day. And so many thing like this. Then, children came up. They were picked up from their houses with our service accompanied by some of our volunteers. They were amazed and they really liked METU. They came and we started to make our groups. Each volunteer had to pick 3-4 children and take care of them during the feast so that nobody may get lost. The way we made our groups was really enjoyable. Our brothers and sisters made a circle and we (volunteers) made a circle in that circle and we started to count from 1 to 10 and started to run towards them and picked the children we responsible during the feast.  And then we played games with them, we had a puppeteer that made us a show with 4 puppet that danced and made funnies. A statue man also and two long legged man. We enjoyed so much and so did children.

    As you can see in this video, our aim is making these children profutable adults and surrend it as a custom. We all upset about someone who do not equal to us but just thinking is nothing. We need to move and give a hand to these people. Either this way or in other ways, I think it is the time to put our hands under the rock. If not, we would not have the right to want a good world for future or for us maybe. That is  exactly what we aim to do. That is a work that need to be patient, be loyal and having the sense of responsibility. But no doubt that all those efforts are worth to see the smile on children faces. For a better world we say ''THE WORLD İS BETTER WİTH AGT''.

Artical Journal 1

                                      DİSCRİMİNATİON

      There is always events happening around us that give the sense of underestimating. Looking down on somebody is so easy that one can hit the other without any reason if the one hitten is weaker than him. In other words, big fish eats small fish. Do you think the big one thinks about the living right of the smaller? I do not think so.

     In this paragraph, we see a little boy hitten by their friends just for his nation, not for his rude behaviour or a bad word that he utters. Just for he is different. He can not understand why these all happenend and when he tells about everything to his father he just suprise that his father already accustomed to this situation. But those people have to live with it because of the absurd custom of being same eats the justice vain of majoritiy of the society. But I think the father says so nice things such as not giving up his realities according to others' pleasures or desires. He says that he should be proud of himself and this is really good because people have their meanings  in the world just for their differentaties. And the point is to see that and I hope poeple soon recognize it for a peaceful world.

   

     In this vidoe, we see a black man who bring the little girl's baloon and misunderstood by her mother. She supposes that boy stealing the baloon. She behaves without thinking because the man is black and what she sees is just bad things. Now, let think about it. Can you imagine treated  like this just because your skin colour is dark? Is our personality up to your skin or your other differences? I think people have to see that in a garden that all colours are same is not as attractive as a garden that includes different colours. That is so classic says those things but as we see, nowadays we tend to ignore classicals because we hear them so much and this means we hear but do not apply what is necessary to do. Hope to see you in a world that bear all differences in a gentle way soon.

                                            WHAT ABOUT PİTY?

    Nowadays, I am reading an interesting book named '' the women chance the history''.  It is so interesting and consists of many women from Hürrem Sultan to Queen Elizabeth. You can not help yourself shocking because they are so clever, so talented some of them really good people who rise their states to the top from bottom, some of them so passionate to rule the empire, kingdom and whatever regime you can think that they even kill their sons, their husbands and some of them even marry with two kings. They highlight the power of women should not underestimated but one of them is really shocking for her cruelty. Her name is Elizabeth BATHORY. The queen of Transylvania.

     Historical books say that she is impressed by an event that happened in her early ages. Her uncles ordered a man to punish an guilty by putting the guilty into a horses stomach by disembowel it and both quilty and horse die with  incredible pains and screams. This is possible because her kins were crazy and risen up in an environment like this, she becomes one of the pitiless people that the world have ever seen.

       She loved torturing, especially to peasant girls. She would punish them sincerely and one day one of her servants hurts her hair by mistake and she slaps so hard that the girl's noise starts to blooding and a little blood comes to her face and then, she recognizes that she is becoming young thanks to the blood and then the evets that cause the start of wampire tales start. From this time, she starts to kill young peasant girls and have shower with their blood. At the end, she founds guilty and according to the records she killed 650 girls. When I read the story I could not help myself shocking and think about how human kind could be that much merciless. It reminds me the saying ''Every think is possible.''

              When I was in high school my teacher asked us to make  the  a list of universities that we dream about. First uiversity of my list was METU. I wrote it saying ''just a dream''. But it is real now. I am a METU student.  I am happy about it because METU means freedom for me. One of the best selections for my education, for my future.
           Challenges don't disturb me because I was staying in a dormitory when I was a student of high school. It's okey with me eating tasteless meals, staying in a room with 4 people and so on. Class are not so hard for me because English doesn't tire me . The  problems  are my mother and my little brother. I always miss them so much. My brother is 10 years old and  he is my best friend. He needs me just as I need him. My mother also misses me I know and these are the challenges for me. Living without them is like eating cake that has no sugar. Anyway, I think METU is the right place for me and I can try to be happy there.

         When I first saw the slogan '' I BRAİN METU'' I thought it is not the perfect one because it's not sympathic for me. It is saying like '' DO NOT COME HERE''. I think it can be more funny or more challenging. It my opinion of course, I do not like formal things so much. Social things is more challenging for me. I think education should teach how to like learning something.'' I BRAIN METU''  is so formal. Our teachers would say us '' sit and study science'' it brings my mind to this. It can be more pleasurable I think. This is my opinion others may like it. There can be people who like formal things or science like math. I do not like the things related to math and '' I brain  METU'' brings my mind to manth.

          It can be something more social.We know that universities are the hearth of a country and it can say this to people who see METU 's slogan. '' We believe that we can change the whole world with the help of this soul, starting from our immediate world.'' is good for instance, I could I would choose this one. This reflects the soul that change all aspects of life. '' I BRAİN METU'' does not say social things to me,it looks like nothing but science however it should have reflected the society a bit more.

REAL OR NOT? ( SET 3 - MULTİMEDİA)

 

Look at this little sweet girl. The video shot while she was playing a computer game. She is so young, about 4 or 5 years old but she is so care about  the game that she cries for she can not play it well.I think about my childhood that we were playing with our babies, we used to sew clothes for them and time would pass with these. Our reality was the things that we can feel, see, smell, in other words, the things that concrete. Look at the  girl crying in front of the computer. That is because she braught up with these and  apparently she cares about them much more than everything else. She does not know that the play is just for fun, she thinks that play the game succesfully is the most important thing  because she have risen up in a technological  environment and so she can not see the abstract side of it.

      People do not exposure technological advices much  from the beginning of their life are aware of that the technology is abstract because they have risen up outside of the  technology and so they can critisize it. Living outside of something gives the change of critisize because you can watch them objectively. But living with them means being a part of them that means lack of talent to critisize it, seeing its wrong sides. In technology it is also true and this video is one of the proofs it. The little girl could not enjoy the game because she thinks the aim of her life at that moment is play it well. She can not discriminate the real values of life and the imaginary ones. That is a big problem of people now and there must be educations for stop that because can not discriminating real and imagine is causes big problems even causes ilnessess.

Marketıng Çiğköfte

              TURKISH  ÇIGKÖFTE              

   

      Lets talk about something really interesting and so delicious that if one tastes it he will never forget that kind of taste. It also has cultural value for Turkish people. You are excited are not you? So here is the name of this masterpiece: Çiğköfte

It’s story dates back the time of prophet İbrahim. When Nimrod collected all firewood in Urfa in order to build a monumental execution pyre, the wife of a hunter had to prepare venison raw in the absence of firewood. She mixed the meat with bulgur, herbs and spices and crushed the mixture with stone implements until it was palatable.

     It is easy to make çiğköfte you don’t need even fire to cook it !!  Just buy some species like red pepper, a bowel of bulghur, meat and vegetables then let’s bring them together and rub !! Coming Turkey and not tasting the çiğköfte means half of your travel is meaningless !! İt is made not only by rubbing it but also by adding our affection to the species’s and meat’s extraordinary dance !! I, personally, strongly advise all of you to taste this wanderfull and really delicious food. You will never regret !

         The cigköfte is really delicious and cheap. It can be  eaten  wrap shaped also. It has a very important space in Turkish culture. In every aspect of life it can be eaten for example in celebratings, in weddings, in family meetings and whatever you can think. TRY IT, YOU WİLL NEVER REGRET!!

    We live in  technology age and our lifes are shaped by it. We watch the tv serials, programmes, films and something like these that besiege our brains, our thinking which is one of the most important features of us. We stop thinking most of time and just watch, just see what other people think and serve us. No imagination of us is needed. That is horrible when thinking  about it but it is seen such a normal thing that no one stops and think that we, as humanbeing, are lost our talent of thinking for a while. We can create the scenes by ourselves when reading but we do not choose this, we choose the prepared ones.After a while, we start to compare them with the real life. The question ''Is there such a thing in real life?'' arises. Adult can overcome saying '' No'' but think about a child that brought up exposed to these. Do you think it is as easy as  adults to notice what is real or not for him?

In this video, we see a woman wanting to be like an artist and leave her own appearance. This is a new trend that people want to be looking like famous people. They want their nose to be like famouses' , their chest like famouses' , their lips also and a lot of example like these. They see celebrates much beautiful than themselves and being like famous people gives them good sense. You can see in this video that the girl wants to be like a famous and going under plastic surgery. It's cost is  high, really high because she wants to change her chest, lip, nose and cheekbone which means really so much change. She does not care about it. Secondly, she afraids of being surgeried but she tries to overcome and the love of beauty or being like the girl she tries to looking like wins and the consequence is seen. She looks like the famous one at last but her face's naturality has gone, her mimics almost has gone, the characteristic  of her face can not been seen. No one can judge people's decisions, her own life she changed but I guess I would not go under a plastic surgery just for being like someone else I think naturality is one of the most important thing in life.

   Beauty is one of the most imortant thing in humanbeing life. It's importance is sometimes being  underestimated but no one can say  that it is totally unimportant. Almost everyone want to see themselves as beautiful because it brings self-confidence. More and more people are going under plastic surgery with the aim of being much more beautiful and so feel much comfortably. People tends to leave their own appearance, their innately given appearance because of the love of beauty. Japans, for example, as seen  one of the most dependent nation of the world when talking about keening on customs but we see a new trend which includes lift of eye lid that one of the most striking scene of the importance of beauty in humanbeing aspect nowadays. I hope the love of beauty will not  become the core of life forgetting that humanbeing is much more than appearance. Of course beauty is important but it is not the most important thing in life.
